Indian Naan Bread

This from my cookbook I got from Ethan.

Ingredients

1 (0.25 oz)

packedt rapid rise yeats

1/4 Cup warm water
1/2 tsp sugar
1-3/4 cups flour
1-1/2 tsp salt
1/2 C plain yogurt
2 TBLS canola oil
2 TBLS butter

Preparation

  1. Add yeast, warm water & sugar to large bowl.
  2. Stir yeast
  3. Add flour, 1 tsp salt & yogurt
  4. stir until dough comes together.
  5. knead until smooth (5-10 minutes)
  6. set dough in bowl & cover with towel
  7. let rise for 30 minutes
  8. heat oil, butter & 1/2 tsp salt in microwave safe bowl until melted., about 30 seconds
  9. divide dough into equal pieces
  10. roll each piece into a ball
  11. flatten each ball into large thin circle
  12. use pastry brush to paint the top of dough with melted butter
  13. heat skillet over medium high heat for 1 minute
  14. add one piece of naan butter side down.
  15. use pastry brush to butter top
  16. cook until top is bubbling and bottom is browned. (1 minute)
  17. flip & cook 30-60 seconds more
  18. Repeat with remaining naan.
